Desi Ghee made in Australia

We come from a generation which grew up on Desi Ghee. We had it in everything I know- onchapatis and parathas, in our vegetables, dals, meat curries, almost everything.

Then come a time when the Indian market changed its course and we had dozens of brands of refined vegetable oil on the shops shelves. For nearly a generation ghee took a back seat and was almost hard to find it in the shops. Coupled with some misguided bad press, people also started thinking maybe gheewasn't such a good thing after all.

All that changed later down the line when ghee made a comeback, and backed by scientific research established the fact that it indeed is as good a product as any and in fact better than many other cooking mediums in the market around that time. We started enjoying ghee again. But things change for us yet again when we left India and realised that by leaving the country we're also going to have to leave our favourite ghee back home.

When we moved to Australia in early 2000s, therewere just a few brands of Indian ghee but none could match the taste of home-made ghee that we yearned for. For a few years we manage without it, always longing to get that homemade natural taste Our waiting was finally over when we found Sharma's Kitchen pure ghee on the shelves a few years ago. Sharma’s Kitchen had already Introduced yoghurt and paneer in the market so we were always sure about the quality. But when we tried the ghee, it was absolutely amazing. We felt that we have been transported back to our home country, where this taste waspart of our daily lives. And now we had this taste here in Australia too.

What is more amazing is the fact Sharma’s Kitchen ghee is 100% made in Australia! And to us it tastes even better than other Indian brands being imported these days.

How they managed to create that original taste, we don’t know. But as long as we know where to buy our favoruite ghee, we are happy.

Sharma’s Kitchen Pure Ghee is a leading Indian Ghee brand in Australia. It packs all the benefits of natural home made ghee plus the added goodness of being a local made product. If it’s pure, you can be sure

  • Shelf-stable Due to its low moisture content and lack of dairy, ghee won’t turn rancid at room temperature like butter and retains its original flavor and freshness for up to a year without refrigeration.
  • High Smoke Point Ghee’s smoke point – the temperature at which the oil begins to smoke and generate toxic fumes and harmful free radicals – is nearly 500°F, which is higher than most cooking oils and much higher than ordinary butter’s smoke point of 350°F.
  • Stimulates the digestive system Ghee stimulates the secretion of stomach acids to aid in digestion, while other fats and oils, can slow down the body’s digestive process and sit heavy in the stomach.
  • Suitable for the dairy intolerant Ghee is produced when butter is clarified, meaning all but trace amounts of lactose and casein are removed. Though tiny amounts of lactose or casein can remain, they exist at a level low enough not to cause concern for a Paleo dieter or those with Lactose or casein intolerance.
